Guides: Feature Images & Cover Pages

Feature Image

The feature image is the first thing a practitioner will see when coming across your product on Praxel, it’s the thumbnail image that comes up when browsing products, so it is important to follow good design practices. A good design draws someones attention and provides a clear, brief understanding of the what the activity is about and who the target demographic is.

Cover Page

The cover page is enclosed in the downloaded activity package, and not publicly viewable on the Praxel website. It’s like the front cover of a book with a bit more information, such as the product name, the author (or the name of the seller shop), a feature image, and a brief description of the included activity. This page is important as it will be the first thing clinicians see when they open a product and provides a quick summary of the enclosed activity.

Good Design Practices

1 Limit the amount of information

Include only short and concise bits of information such as a:

  • Title
  • Short description (approx 30 words )
  • An image that is related to the activity
  • The author

2 Typography

Product thumbnails are small, so to be easily read, the text in them needs to follow these rules:

  • Keep the text  large. At least size 96 for a heading, and size 64 for a subtitle.
  • Ensure high contrast colours between the text colour and the background colour.
  • Avoid text overlapping images. A simple solution is to put a solid colour background behind text.
  • Limit the use of unusual decorative fonts.

3 Limit the use of colours

Keep the number of different colours small, ~2-4. Too many colours can make the image busy and difficult to read.

Technical Requirements

  • Feature Images must have the dimensions 1280×860 pixels
  • Image filetype:
    • jpg/jpeg
